HCV ELISA

The HCV ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) is a widely used screening test to detect antibodies to Hepatitis C Virus in the blood. This test is often the first step in diagnosing a Hepatitis C infection. A positive result indicates that the person has been exposed to the virus at some point, although further confirmatory testing (like HCV RNA PCR) is required to determine if the infection is active.
