U C/S

The Urine Culture and Sensitivity (U C/S) test is used to detect the presence of bacteria or fungi in the urine that may be causing a urinary tract infection (UTI). A sterile urine sample is cultured in a lab to allow any microorganisms present to grow. Once identified, a sensitivity test is performed to determine which antibiotics will effectively treat the infection. This test is critical for accurate diagnosis, especially in recurrent or complicated UTIs, and helps avoid unnecessary or ineffective antibiotic use. It is often recommended when patients show symptoms like frequent urination, burning sensation, fever, or lower abdominal pain.
