BLOOD UREA NITROGEN

Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) Test is a simple blood test that measures the levels of urea nitrogen in the blood. Urea nitrogen is a waste product formed in the liver when the body breaks down proteins, and it is removed from the blood by the kidneys. Elevated BUN levels may indicate impaired kidney function, dehydration, heart disease, or other medical conditions. Conversely, low BUN levels might suggest malnutrition, liver disease, or overhydration. This test is commonly used alongside other kidney function tests like creatinine to diagnose kidney disease, monitor treatment effectiveness, or assess overall health.
